Psychiatrist with specialized training in sleep medicine, treating adult patients with sleep disorders including insomnia, sleep apnea, and sleepwalking using medication and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I am a psychiatrist and I further trained in sleep medicine. My practice focuses on adult patients (18 years old and above only) with sleep problems associated with psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety and depression. Sleep problems would include insomnia, snoring (sleep apnea), sleep walking, etc. Aside from giving medications, I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - Insomnia in managing my patients. CBT-I combines one or more of the cognitive therapy strategies with education about sleep regulation plus stimulus control instructions and sleep restriction therapy. CBT-I also often includes sleep hygiene education, relaxation training and other counter-arousal methods. Treatment progresses using information typically gathered with sleep diaries completed by the patient throughout the course of treatment (typically 4–8 sessions).
